Transparency Technologies, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates StraightUp. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our service.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Account Information: Email address and optional name when you create an account
• Profile Information: Responses to intake questions about your life, goals, and preferences
• Check-in Data: Daily and weekly reflections, mood ratings, and notes you submit
• Goals: Personal and professional goals you set within the service
• Memories: Insights, patterns, and lessons you choose to save
• Mirror Conversations: Messages you exchange with the Mirror

Information Collected Automatically

• Usage Data: How you interact with the service (pages visited, features used)
• Device Information: Browser type, operating system, and device identifiers
• Log Data: IP address, access times, and referring URLs

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide, maintain, and improve the StraightUp service
• Personalize your experience with relevant prompts and insights
• Power AI features that help you reflect and plan
• Send you reminders and notifications you've opted into
• Respond to your questions and support requests
• Analyze usage patterns to improve the product (in aggregate)
• Detect and prevent fraud or abuse

4. Data Sharing

We may share your information only in these limited circumstances:

• Service Providers: Third parties who help us operate the service (hosting, email, analytics) under strict confidentiality agreements
• AI Processing: Your conversations are processed by our AI provider to generate responses, but are not used for training
• Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights
• Business Transfers: In connection with a merger or acquisition, with continued privacy protections

5. Reflective Insights (Optional)

StraightUp offers an optional feature that reads the reflections you choose to share and suggests concrete next steps back to you. The processing is done by FideMaster, the platform StraightUp runs on, which is operated by the same company that operates StraightUp.

You Turn It On, Not Us

• Off by default: Nothing is shared for this feature unless you switch it on yourself
• One choice per content type: You decide separately for weekly reviews, daily check-ins, and memories. Turning on one does not turn on the others
• Reversible at any time: You can switch any of them back off whenever you want, from your settings
• Recorded against these terms: Each time you turn something on, we record which version of this policy was in effect. If we change how the feature works, your existing choice does not silently carry over to the new terms

What Is Kept, and What Is Not

This is the part that matters most, so we want to be exact about it. Your reflections are read in order to work out what to suggest, and are then discarded. They are not copied into FideMaster and kept there.

Your original entries stay where they have always been, in your StraightUp account, under your control, covered by the rest of this policy.

Suggestions Wait for You

A suggestion is a proposal, not an action. Nothing is added to your goals or your plan until you confirm it. If you would rather not confirm each one, you can switch on automatic acceptance, and you can switch it back off just as easily. Automatic acceptance is off unless you choose it.

Kept Separate

Your content and the suggestions drawn from it are held separately per account. They are not pooled with other users, and they are not used to produce suggestions for anyone else.

Who Else Is Involved

• FideMaster (Transparency Technologies, LLC): Processes the content you opt in to share, on our instructions and for no other purpose
• AI providers (Anthropic and Groq): Perform the language processing that extracts the next steps. Your content is not used to train their models

Turning It Off

Switching off a content type stops any further processing of that content from that point on. Suggestions already drawn from it remain until you remove them, and you can ask us to delete all of them at once by contacting us at privacy@getrookd.com. Suggestions are kept for as long as the feature is switched on for that content type, and are removed when you delete your account under section 9.

6. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase: Database and authentication (your data is stored securely)
• Anthropic: AI processing for the Mirror
• Groq: AI processing for the Mirror and voice transcription
• FideMaster: The platform StraightUp runs on, and the processor for the optional feature described in section 5
• Resend: Email delivery for reminders
• Google Analytics: Anonymous usage analytics
• Sentry: Error monitoring to improve reliability
• Vercel: Hosting infrastructure

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

• Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
• Encryption at rest for stored data
• Secure authentication with session management
• Regular security reviews and updates
• Access controls limiting who can view your data internally

While we strive to protect your information, no system is 100% secure. Please use a strong, unique password for your account.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your data
• Correction: Update inaccurate information
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and data
• Export: Download your data in a portable format
• Opt-out: Unsubscribe from email communications

9. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or legitimate business purposes. Aggregated, anonymized data may be retained indefinitely.

10. Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We also use analytics cookies to understand how the service is used. You can control cookie preferences in your browser settings.

11. California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used. We do not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA.

12. Children's Privacy

StraightUp is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or through the service. The "Last updated" date at the top indicates when the policy was last revised.
